Welcome! As we get started, please establish an account for yourself at Diigo.com. Then begin finding websites for journals and discussion groups in your discipline, and opening them in tabs so you can reference them later. Click here for detailed instructions on how to do this!
1. Social Bookmarking as a Professional Development Tool
Choose your tool: Delicious, Diigo -- and the importance of tagging
Examples:
Jim's Diigo Public Library
Lisa's Diigo Public Library
Starting out: get an account at Diigo and join the MCC Pot Group
2. Exploring Online Tools In Your Discipline(s)
Find some cool sites in your discipline. Open them in separate tabs. Then bookmark them at Diigo, sharing to the MCC Pot Group. Make sure you use your discipline or course name (or both) as a tag for each one.
3. Keeping Track of Your Resources
Choose your "Aggregator": Start Pages (MyYahoo, iGoogle, Netvibes, Pageflakes), Web-based Readers (Google Reader, FeedRaider), Desktop Newsreaders (FeedDemon, NetNewsWire)
Examples of Start Pages:
Lisa's Netvibes History Page
Jim's Netvibes Page
Starting Your Own Netvibes Site
